Welcome to the Facemoji Keyboard + GIFs（“Facemoji Keyboard”), displayed via the mobile application and online on the internet (together, the “Service”) owned by Baidu Japan Inc. (“Baidu”). By signing this document when first accessing our Service, you actively consent to this Privacy Notice.

If you did not withdraw your consent, we collect personal information from you in order to provide you with a personalized, useful and efficient experience, and also for advertising purposes. Even though, because of technical reasons, it is not possible to enter into the Terms of Use Agreement without consenting to the processing of your personal information as mentioned below, after installing the Facemoji Keyboard you are at all time able to withdraw your consent as described in section 4 ‘Your choices regarding your information’. In case you withdraw your consent, you may still access and use the core functionality of the Facemoji Keyboard. However, certain features may not be available to you as they require personal information input to function and the overall effectiveness of the Facemoji Keyboard may deteriorate. Depending on your settings, the categories of information we collect include the categories of personal information as explained under ‘further information’.
Further information
Collection: You can use the Service without providing any personal information. We may collect and store personal information you provide to us through the Service, such as keywords entered for searches.
Aim: The purpose of collection of keywords is to analyse your needs and to conduct profiling, in order to make accurate advertisement placement.
Collection: Our Service, specifically the augmented reality emoji function of the Facemoji Keyboard, allows you to combine a photo or video of your face with other images or facial enhancements. In order to provide this Service, Baidu needs to be granted access to your camera and photos, and Baidu's technology will collect and identify your facial features and facial geometry. Besides, Baidu will collect facial information from photos taken by you in order to enhance the accuracy of your facial recognition. While you may store your images directly on your own device, Baidu does not store your facial geometry or biometric information after you delete or locally save the finished image. Aim: Baidu uses this information to provide the Service to you, being the facial recognition and combination of the face image with other images or enhancements. Besides, Baidu uses this information to further develop and enhance the accuracy of Baidu's proprietary technology for facial recognition. However for the latter purpose, the facial information is first anonymised and will therefore no longer be connected to your profile.
Collection: We may receive personal information such as your IP address, information related to the installation source, statistics regarding you and personal information related to the crashing of your device from third parties and other entities of the Baidu group – such as app development platforms and tracking and analytics platforms - and combine that with information we collect through our Service. We may also receive your user name and profile image when you log in to the Facemoji Keyboard with another social media account. The personal information we receive from these apps is dependent upon the other apps’ policies and your privacy settings on those apps. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on these apps and services before using them.
Aim: Baidu receives reports on the abovementioned personal information from third parties and other entities of the Baidu group in order to solve crash problems and to optimise your user experience.
Collection: The voice input function of the Service requires access to certain personal information in order to be able to function. With your consent, the Facemoji Keyboard app will access your device microphone in order to activate voice input. When you use the voice input function, Baidu collects and stores the content of your voice, the text transcription of the spoken words, and the date and time when voice is transformed into words.
Aim: Your voice information will be used to provide voice to text functionality, to improve the Service’s voice input function, and to develop, create, improve, optimize, maintain, and otherwise enhance its automatic speech recognition and voice transcription technology, and natural language understanding software products, services or platforms.
Collection: We collect information as you use the Service, such as the frequently used words and phrases, your particular writing style, how often you backspace, and how you press the keys on the Facemoji Keyboard. This information is collected first on your local device and none of the text you type will be transmitted to Baidu unless you actively opt-in to this Privacy Notice. If you consent to share this information with Baidu, Baidu takes certain steps to anonymize, aggregate and/or otherwise minimize the possibility that Baidu inadvertently collects information that could be considered personal in nature. Depending on the type of the data, these steps could include: word randomization on the local device prior to transmission, sampling, anonymization, aggregation, and encryption. Additionally, Baidu does not collect text that is comprised of only numbers, or a combination of letters and numbers, or that contains @, to avoid in as far as possible the collection of information that may be considered sensitive like account information or email addresses. Baidu neither collects information from fields which the website or application developer has indicated as being for password or payment card data.
Aim: This information allows Baidu to create a language model, which helps Baidu to optimize and improve word prediction, minimize user errors, and increase the accuracy of key presses.
Collection: The automatic reply function of the Service requires access to certain personal information in order to be able to function. If you allow permission and enable our automatic reply feature, we collect and analyze the content of SMS messages you receive via some social media applications of your device in order to generate suggested replies.
Aim: We merely use the information generated this way to create a better automatic reply model, which helps us to generate automatic replies and improve precision and accuracy of the automatic reply prediction.
Collection: The ‘customized keyboard’ function of the Service requires access to certain personal information in order to be able to synchronize to an account. If a user logs in to its personal account of other social media in Facemoji Keyboard, Baidu will save the ‘customized keyboard’ of such user ( the user’s own picture set as the background picture of its keyboard) on a remote server and connect it to its account.
Aim: After a user logs in to its account, Baidu will collect information of such user’s customized keyboards for the purpose of account synchronization, so that the user can retrieve the customized keyboards used by it in the past when it logs in to its Facemoji Keyboard account on other mobile devices.
Collection: When a user uses the text translation function, the original text needs to be uploaded to the server of the Baidu group translation team and saved in an unencrypted format. Such data will only be stored for a period of one day on servers of the Baidu group and will then be deleted.
Aim: We merely use the text inserted by you in the transaltion interface to translate this text into the target language.
Collection: We, and our third party partners, automatically collect certain types of usage information when you use our Service. We typically collect this information through a variety of technologies, including cookies, pixels, SDKs, web beacons, file information and similar technology.
For example, we collect information about your device and its software and about the way you use the Service, such as the type of device, physical dimension, division ratio, CPU type, memory capacity, operating system version, version of Facemoji Keyboard, keyboard type and typing performance when using Facemoji Keyboard, crash information (such as defects that occurred), and unique ID for each Facemoji Keyboard installed.
We do not permit third party online advertising networks to collect information about your use of our Service over time so that they may play or display advertising on our Service, on other devices you may use, neither on other websites, apps or services.
Aim: We may use the data collected through these technologies to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Service; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information, including advertising presented by the Baidu group; (c) identify you across multiple devices; (d) ensure and monitor the effectiveness of our Service; (e) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, usage, and demographic patterns on our Service for generating statistics (f) diagnose or fix technology problems; and (g) otherwise to plan for and enhance our Service.
You as a user may yourself share the information you upload via the Service with third parties providing various other services. For example, you may have the option to share your activities on the Service with your friends on various social media sites.
We may share your personal information with any organisation part of the Baidu group (at present or in the future), or with third parties (i) where they are subcontractors or advertisers, or (ii) to comply with legislation, to carry out a contract with the user or to defend Baidu against any type of harm. We transfer your personal information outside of the European Union, in order to be able to provide our users with the Service. The personal information may be transferred to countries which provide an adequate level of protection or, where this is not the case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. Please refer to section 8 in order to obtain a copy of these safeguards.

Once you have withdrawn your consent to share personal information with us, you may still access and use the core functionality of the Facemoji Keyboard, but certain features may not be available to you as they require personal information input to function and the overall effectiveness of the Facemoji Keyboard may deteriorate.
You have the right to lodge a complaint regarding the processing performed by Baidu with a supervisory authority.
Baidu cares about the security of your information and uses commercially reasonable physical, administrative, and technological safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of all information we collect and that we share with our service providers. In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised and take other steps, in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.
The Service may contain links to and from third party websites of our business partners, advertisers, social media sites, and our users may post links to third party websites. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy notices and policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies. Please check the individual policies before you submit any information to those websites.
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Notice from time to time.
